All four events will he played in 4 qualifying sections consisting
of six Countries, with each section being played on a "Round-Robin"
basis, i.e. each Country playing against each other Country in its
section.
The compositions of the sections will he based on the overall
results in each competition of the previous World Bowls Championships
in Johannesburg 2000. i.e. The winning Country to he placed in section
1 and the runner-up in section 2 and so on through the final order
of placings.
Following the completion of the qualifying sections, the top three
Countries in each of the 4 Sections (12 Countries) will qualify
for the 2 championship sections. The bottom three Countries in each
of the 4 sections (12 Countries) will qualify for the 2 plate sections.
The 12 Countries qualifying for the championship sections will
be divided into 2 sections of 6 Countries. The qualifiers will he
placed in either of the 2 sections based on their finishing position
in the qualifying sections. The layout of those placings in the
2 championship sections has already been established in the proposed
format put together by the Committee of World Bowls 2004.
